Bank Holiday Diary Comic

I wanted to both:

  • remember an excellent and joyful weekend (especially in the face of the horrific local election results this past week – though I am really proud of our local Green Party doing so well)
  • and also test out my new XP Pen Artist Pro 16 Gen 2 (which I got from CEX after trading in my iPad a couple of weeks ago) along with CSP on my computer.

I got a bit carried away with colour! But it was so much fun to draw these scenes, and I really noticed that my first panel isn’t the strongest, and I find it a bit boring, and seem to prefer a free flow of things down the page. As always, I had fun playing with layer blending modes to give me different ideas for colouring in.

My lovely t-shirt that unfortunately now has some dark greasy spots on (I don’t mind that much, as it will always remind me of us pissing ourselves laughing at the unfortunate spunking giant incident of May ’26) is from Hare and Tabor. We spent ages choosing a t-shirt each because they had so many nice designs – check them out!

This took me about 3 days to draw – not fully every moment spent drawing, but a lot of time. I want to get faster and I know the only way to do that is to keep practising, and to also do things like limited colour palette. It was a good bit of practice and I’m really happy with these pages overall.

Thanks for reading!
